Women's Premier League 2023 got a glitzy bollywood start this Saturday evening at DY Patil stadium at Navi Mumbai. Along with this bollywood studed evening came a smashing victory of Mumbai Indians over Gujrat Giants. Where, Mumbai Indians scored 207 after losing 5 wickets and in answer Gujrat Giants after losing 9 wickets, scored 64 runs only.
The ceremony started with unvailing of the WPL trophy by Captains of five team, who will be participating in this tournament. These teams are Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
After this, Kriti Sano, AP Dhillon and Kiara Advani gave their mesmerizing performance.
First match of the season started at 8 pm sharp. GG took bowling first after winning the toss.
For MI, opner Hayley Matthews scored 41, where as Amelia Kerr scored 45 runs. While Harmanpreet Kaur scored a whooping 65 runs in 30 balls with 14 fours. And that's how MI scored 207 in 20 overs, with 5 wicket loss. For MI bowlers taking wickets seems quite easy, where Saika Ishaque bagged 4 wickets, Amelia Kerr and Sciver-Brunt got 2 wickets each and Issy Wong grabbing one for the team.
As for GG, today was quite not their day. Fisrt, skipper of the team Beath Mooney got retired hurt on zero and Meghna scored only 2 runs. Then Harleen and Ashleigh both returned to the pavallion. Only Hemalatha scored 29 runs in 23 balls and manged to give two sixes. Whereas, Wareham scored 8 runs and Annabel Sutherland scored 6 for the team. In bowling end Sneh Rana managed 2 wickets for the team. While Gardner, Tanuja Kanwar and Wareham took 1 wicket each.
