Ranki and shetty to fight for swiss open trophy
India's shining men's double pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty enterd the final of Swiss Open Super Series 300 badminton tournament by defeating Ong and Teo of Malaysia.
On this Saturday's men's double badminton match played between India and Malaysia, the world's number sixth pair Ranki-Shetty clashed with Malaysian second seed Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi. The match lasted a good one hour and nine minute where the Malasiyan shuttlers dought hard to win against Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.
The first set was played very tight between the two teams. Ranki and Shetty dug deep to retrieve many smashes from the competitors. Where as in the beginning of the set India was leading by 16-11, the Malaysian fought back well and gathered six points marking 19-17 in the points table. But, Indian shuttlers went ahead, got their first game point and won the set by 19-21.
In the second game Malaysia over powered Ranki-Shetty by taking an early lead on the game and keeping it up till the end of the second set. Though India tried it's best to take a lead but the game ended with Ong and Teo winning it with 21-17.
In the final set where the score was the same as the privious set, but just reversed. Indian shuttlers won this set by 17-21 defeating Malaysia. Indian coach Mathias Boe was constantly encouraging his players by counciling them.
The The Commonwealth Champions will face China's Ren Xiang Yu and Tan Qiang in the Swiss Open Super Series.
