Ranki and Shetty wins Swiss Open Title
World's number sixth men's doubles badminton pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the Swiss Open Super Series 300 badminton tournament this Sunday. The dynamic Indian duo defeated the world number 21 Chinese pair by 21-19 and 24-22.
The dazzling Indian pair of Ranki and Shetty set up a violent force against the their opponent while creating a concrete defence. In this ongoing 54 minutes match Satwik and Chirag were facing Ren Xiang Yu and Tan Qiang for the first time.
In the first set, India's starting was quite a miss because of Chirag's service error. But India managed to gain a lead by 3-1 until the Chinese pair leveled it up by 6-6. After this, India played boldly and took it up to an 18-13 gap with flat and short rallies.
Nevertheless, soon Tan and Ren narrowed it down to 17-18, but a come back shot from Chirag rewarded the Indian second seeded duo with two game points. And the first game was closed with 21-19 score.
In the starting of the second game India was lacking with 2-4 and this set was played extremely close. But India emerged from it with the help of Chirag's attacking smashes.
However, China came close and leveled the game by 20-20. But Tan's one fault gave Satwik and Chirag another match point. Although, towards the end China grabbed a game point of their own but one mistake by them and it gave India it's fourth game point and Swiss Open trophy.
Although India's journey for this season has came to an end with Satwik and Chirag winning men's doubles. Because PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen endured early defeats.
