Delhi started with a bang by thrashing Bangalore Tara Norris wreaks havoc
Day two of WPL2023 was quite eventful. In the very first match of the day and second match of the season, where Delhi Capitals had a face off with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi won the match by 60 runs. Batting first, DC challenged RCB with a mountain score of 224 runs. Where as in answer to the humongous score, RCB was reduced to 163 runs only.
Though Mandhana's team didn't won the match, but RCB sure won the toss and decided to ball first.
However, DC girls took it upon themselves, and proved this decision wrong. Delhi scored 223 runs at the loss of two wickets in 20 overs and surprised everyone.
Delhi's batting line-up was quite strong, Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning performed beautifully. This dynamic pair shared 162 runs off 91 balls for the first wicket. After scoring 84 runs on 45 balls, Shafali looses her wicket to Richa Ghosh. She completed her innings with 10 fours and 4 sixes. After this captain Meg Lanning scored 72 runs with the help of 14 fours in 43 balls. While these two returned to the pavilion, Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues played for third wicket of the innings and made 60 runs in 31 balls. Where, Marizanne Kapp made 39 off 17 balls and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 22 off 15 balls, and remained unbeaten.
RCB's Heather Knight draws first blood and took DC's captain Meg Lanning's wicket.
As for RCB's inning, though it's early but it still feels like WPL RCB is in same track as IPL RCB. The team scored 163 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Captain Mandhana made the most run for the team. She scored 35 runs in 23 balls with the help of 1 six and 5 fours.
But, the team got its first blow when Alice Capsey picked up the very first wicket of Sophie Devine in her fifth over. Sophie scored 14 runs off 11 balls and shared a partnership of 41 runs with her captain.
After this RCB lost its second wicket in seventh over, when Alice Capsey again took a wicket and this time it was Smriti Mandhana. After this Disha Kasat and Ellyse Perry took the crease.
Then came Tara Norris, and wreak havoc on RCB team. One by one she took wicket five wickets of Ellyse Perry, Disha Kasat, Richa Ghosh, Heather Knight and Kanika Ahuja.
Ellyse Perry made 31 off 19 balls, Disha Kasat scored 9 in 11 balls. Richa Ghosh managed only 2 runs in 4 balls and Kanika wasn't even able to score a single run.
Whereas, Heather Knight made 34 runs in 21 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. But in the end Tara ate her up too.
Only Megan Shutt scored an unbeaten 30 runs off 19 balls. And that was the first game of today and second game of the season.
