The great finisher Mahendra Singh Dhoni's charms couldn't worked last night when his Super Kings clashed with Sanju Samson's Royals. Where the entire Chidambaram stadium was painted yellow, Chennai suffered their second defeat of this season. Where as the pink squad didn't miss it's chance and won the 17th match of this season by 3 runs.
Chennai needed a total of 21 runs in the last over and Sandeep Sharma bowled this last over. Sharma gave the first two deliveries wide. Although Dhoni scored two sixes on his two balls and brought the team closer to victory. The last three balls were decisive, Dhoni and Jadeja gave one run each on these two balls. The last ball of the match caught everyone's breath, on this ball CSK had to score 5 runs. Batting was in Dhoni's hands, everyone felt that Dhoni would hit a six on this ball and victory would be in the name of CSK. But Sandeep Sharma's yorker turned the tide, Dhoni managed just one run and Chennai suffered their second defeat of the season.
With their 3rd win this season RR is on the first position on the points table, where as after loosing two matches out of 4 played till now, CSK is on the 5th position.
If we talk about CSK's innings, till the 15th over team had scored only 113 runs at the loss of 6 wickets, while Rajasthan had set a target of 175 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. But, CSK could not win despite having the greatest batsman like Dhoni and Jadeja. Sandeep Sharma's magic worked in the last over and finally for the first time since 2008, Rajasthan beat Chennai at their home.
Rajasthan team's explosive batsman Jos Buttler scored his third half-century of this season and with this he also completed three thousand runs in IPL so far. Buttler scored 52 off 36 balls with the help of three sixes and a four. Apart from these, CSK's Devon Conway also completed his half-century in 38 balls hitting 6 fours.
